US stocks open lower ahead FOMC meeting results

US stocks fell at the start of trading today as investors turned their attention to the results of the Fed meeting and the press conference of federal reserve chairman Jerome Powell.

 

The Federal Reserve will release its interest rate decision with estimates it will remain unchanged at 2.5% in addition to the release of inflation and economic growth forecasts.

 

Powell will make statements on the future of the federal bank's monetary policy and the latest developments in the US economy and global markets.

 

While at the opening of trading today, Dow Jones index fell 0.4% (114 points) to 25,773 points, and Nasdaq fell 0.1% (14 points) to 7709 points. Standard & Poor's shed 0.4% (10 points) to 2,822 points.
