US stocks open flat amid mounting tensions in Middle East

US stocks opened flat today amid expectations of weekly gains, but tensions in the Middle East have cast a shadow over global markets.

 

Iran had taken a unmanned US drone over the Strait of Hormuz, and the White House's statements escalated between denunciations, condemnation and threats.

 

US President Donald Trump said Iran had made a serious mistake, but decided not to launch a strike against sites in Tehran because he was told that more than 150 would be killed in the attacks.

 

Trump assured on the readiness of the US military and his willingness to respond to the Iranian action, noting that he changed his mind not to launch a military strike with 10 minutes to go only.

 

In terms of trading, Dow Jones rose by 0.1% (equivalent to 28 points) to 26,781 points, while Nasdaq fell by 11 points to 8031 ​​points, and Standard & Poor's fell by less than 0.1% (equivalent to two points) to 2951 points.
