US stocks edge lower despite positive trade developments

US stocks opened slightly lower on Tuesday, amid anticipation of the Federal Reserve meeting, which came despite positive developments in the US-China trade file.

 

The Wall Street Journal citing well-informed sources as saying that the US and China are close to delaying the next tariffs hike, which is due Dec.15.

 

The news indicate that the two countries are working intensively together for paving the way to sign the phase one of the final trade deal.

 

The Federal Reserve's meeting will launch later today, to to discuss monetary policy and the decisions will be unveiled tomorrow.

 

As for trading, Dow Jones fell by 0.1% or 20 points to 27,889 as of 15:09 GMT, and S&P 500 dipped 0.1% or 4 points to 3132, while Nasdaq rose 0.1% or 6 points to 8,628.
