Yen sharpens decline to three-week low

Yen kept falling for the third straight session to three-week lows as demand falls on the safe haven, while markets await the Federal Reserve's policy meeting results.

USD/JPY rose to 110.66 from the opening of 110.35, with an intraday low at 110.32, and a high at 110.35.

Dollar opened the week higher against major rivals following the historic summit between US and North Korea, heaping pressure on yen and nudging it to three-week lows.

Asian stock indices lost ground today, which would've normally buoyed demand on yen, but dollar's strength due to prospects of a Fed rate hike forced the Japanese currency lower.

Bank of Japan will meet this week, expected to hold monetary policy unchanged as the economy slows down.
