Canadian dollar fell against its US counterpart as the markets' focus turned to the new round of US-China trade negotiations next week.
Despite the resumption of these negotiations, a number of US officials have expressed their pessimism about the talks, as President Donald Trump also said that there's still a long way from talking about any agreement.
White House Economic Adviser Larry Kudlow said he did not expect an agreement with China next week.
Kudlow pointed out that the administration of President Trump is still keeping the decision to impose more tariffs against Chinese imports on the table, and if things do not go well, the decision will be implemented.
President Trump has previously threatened to impose additional tariffs on imports of Chinese goods worth $325 billion if no agreement is reached between Washington and Beijing.
In terms of trade, by 16:36 GMT, CAD/USD fell by 0.1% to 0.7585, with a high of 0.7605 and a low of 0.7572.
