The Canadian dollar rose against most currencies on Friday, following the recovery in oil prices, which is one of Canada's main exports.

The US consumer price index rose by 0.8% in November after rising by 0.9% in October, higher than forecasts of a rise by 0.7%.

A medical study showed that Omicron is 4.2 times more transmissible than the delta variant.

Pfizer-BioNTech officials believe that people may need a fourth dose of their vaccine to protect against Omicron, as it has been proven to be resistant to the antibodies generated by two doses.

As of 16:58 GMT, CAD/USD rose 0.1% to 0.1% to 0.787, after hitting a high of 0.7887 and a low of 0.7849.
