US services PMI widens unexpectedly

The US services PMI rose to 60.7 in November from 60.3 in October, besting estimates of 59.1.

The productivity gauge in the same survey rose to 65.2 from 62.5, while new orders rose to 62.5 from 61.5, as the employment gauge receded to 58.4 from 59.7.

The inventory gauge rose to 57.5 from 56.0, while accumulated orders rose to 55.5 from 53.5, as imports rose to 54.5 from 51.0.

As of 03:16 GMT, the dollar index dropped 0.41% to 96.67 against a basket of major currencies.

Two thirds of American GDP relies on services, hence the vital importance of services PMIs to markets.
