Swiss Franc tumbles, rousing memories of extreme January 2015 volatility

The Swiss franc declined against most main currencies as Asian markets settle, while Chinese markets return after a long-holiday, just as Japan closes for a national one.

China was celebrating the new lunar year holiday all last week before getting back online on Monday.

The franc's volatility today is a small reminder of the catastrophic decline in January 2015, when the central bank decided to sever the link between franc and euro, sending it skyrocketing.

This week, the dollar's strength is weighing on commodities and other currencies, in turn forcing the franc down.

As of 18:53 GMT, USD/CHF rallied 0.6% to 1.0041, with an intraday high at 1.0129, and a low at 0.9986.
