Sterling rises slightly as Brexit negotiations in focus

The British Pound rose slightly against the Dollar during today's trading session, as investors and British circles are shifting their focus towards a resumption in negotiations between the EU and the UK.

After the EU agreed to postpone the Brexit until October 31, the markets will shift their focus to the UK's negotiations with Brussels to reach a final agreement that will secure London's exit with a deal.

The British parliament rejected Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit plan - which she reached with Brussels in late 2018 - three times this year.

May aims to negotiate with the European side on the single market, the customs union, the Irish border case, and the points that will ensure that Britain gets a suitable exit deal that will not increase its economic problems.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned that the further postponement of Brexit would increase uncertainty and the lack of confidence among companies and investors operating in the UK.

In terms of trading, by 18:30 GMT, Sterling Pound rose against the US dollar by 0.2% to 1.3101, with a high of 1.3119 and the lowest price at 1.3074.
