How much damage can Facebook cause?

Facebook's market value is estimated at half a trillion dollars, with the world's most famous social platform boosting two billion users who open their accounts at least once a month.

Despite quitting Harvard, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg managed to build a giant online infrastructure for social interactions, with some describing him as the Internet Bill Gates.

However, is Facebook all beneficial?, some analysts are disputing that and pointing to some serious harm the platform might be responsible for.

Maybe the biggest scandal to hit Facebook came last year after executives admitted that UK research company Cambridge Analytica got access to the data of millions of US users before using that for political purposes in the 2016 presidential elections.

Facebook also admitted to allowing banks and communication companies access to user data for ad purposes.

In addition to that, Facebook and Twitter have both been mired in allegations of Russian intervention in US elections through targeted ad campaigns.

The company continues to learn from its -might say heavy- mistakes, and the overall benefits of world interconnection through Facebook remains as powerful ever, although some will continue to lose faith in the platform.
