The Federal Open Market Committee voted at the November 7-8 policy meeting to hold overnight interest rates unchanged between 2.0% and 2.25% as expected by analysts.

FOMC members cited the data available to the Committee since the last meeting, pointing to strength in the labor market, while economic activities kept improving as unemployment remained low.

Members asserted the Committee's commitment to boost job opportunities and stabilize prices, expecting continued gradual tightening to monetary policy as the economy continues to improve and expand solidly.

As of 07:10 GMT, the dollar index rose 0.30% against a basket of major rivals to 96.48, with an intraday high at 96.54, and a low at 96.07.

Members said that taking into consideration the labor conditions and current inflation rates, the Committee decided to holds interest rates unchanged between 2% and 2.25%, continuing to assess current and expected conditions towards achieving inflation and full employment targets.

That includes taking into consideration a wide variety of data and economic information, including labor market gauges and inflation indicators.
