British retail sales rise unexpectedly in June

The British economy released at 08:30 GMT, its monthly reading for the retail sales, which rose by 1.0% in June, contrary to the experts' forecasts of a 0.3% decline, while the previous reading was at 0.6% it was revised from a 0.5% drop. This statement is considered positive for the British pound.
