Sterling advances against dollar

Sterling rose against the dollar in American trade away from January 12 lows, amid a lack of data from Britain, while investors await the US Federal Budget's official release.

As of 05:58 GMT, GBP/USD rose 0.36% to 1.3900 from the opening of 1.3851, with an intraday high at 1.3906, and a low at 1.3841.

Earlier today, British government officials said that Britain is quite close to reach a transition Brexit deal with the European Union, while markets now await the US Federal Budget report, expected to show a deficit of $222.3 billion in February, compared to January's $49.2 billion surplus.
