Euro rose in American trade against the greenback amid a lack of data from the euro zone and the US and after the latest developments with the Italian budget dilemma, and amid concerns about US government shutdown because of border wall funding.
As of 04:00 GMT, EUR/USD rose 0.32% to 1.1408, with an intraday high at 1.1439, and a low at 1.1362.
Yesterday, Italy's upper house approved a budget reached in agreement with the European Union, with the government awaiting the approval of the lower house before work starts according to it for 2019, with the European Commission noting recently that Italy avoided punitive measures with this.
