Ripple rises for second day as Bitcoin jumps above $10,000

Most cryptocurrencies rallied on Thursday for the second day in a row after Facebook's Calibra portfolio manager David Marcus' remarks before US congress.

In his testimony before Congress, Marcus has worked to reassure lawmakers about the upcoming cryptocurrency Libra, which Facebook plans to launch next year, that will be consistent with regulations and will not be offered until the green light is received from the concerned authorities.

Marcus said that Facebook understands well the concerns about the cryptocurrency, stressing that "Libra" will not engage or be misused in money laundering or financing terrorism or illegal crimes such as those involving in other cryptocurrencies.

For his part, Villeroy de Galhau, member of the European Central Bank, said that regulators around the world will not sacrifice their electronic security for creativity in reference to "Libra."

In terms of trade, by 20:53 GMT, Ripple rose by 1.7% to $0.32, the highest at $0.33 and the lowest at $0.30.

Bitcoin jumped 9.2% to $10,584, the highest at $10,748.9 and the lowest at $9,277.6.
