Oil recoups yesterday's losses, dollar steadies

Oil prices rose today after yesterday's losses, with the dollar putting a stop to its winning six-day streak, lessening the pressure on some commodities.

Baker Hughes, a US oil services company, is reporting on the oil rig count today, which would give a good clue on the pace of energy output in the country.

As of 16:01 GMT, the dollar index steadied at 96.6, with a session-high at 96.7, and a low at 96.4.

US West Texas rose 0.2% to $52.7 a barrel, with a session-high at $52.9, and a low at $52.08.

Brent rose 0.3% to $61.8 a barrel, with an intraday high at $62.3, and a low at $61.04.
