Oil falls, ahead US exploration data

Oil prices fell during the day despite the International Energy Agency's report and the dollar's decline against most major currencies, pending the disclosure of exploration activities data in the United States.

 

The International Energy Agency warned of the electricity crisis in Venezuela, which indicated that it could cause serious repercussions and the decline of supplies in the global market by about 1.2 million barrels per day.

 

Meanwhile, by 15:37 GMT, the dollar index (against a number of major currencies) fell by 0.1% to 96.5 points, recording a high of 96.7 points and a low of 96.5 points.

 

Baker Hughes will announce later today, data on US crude and natural gas exploration activities this week.

 

By 15:31 GMT, during the trading session, West Texas crude fell by 0.5% to $58.2 a barrel. Crude hit a day high of $58.9 and a low of $57.7.

 

Brent fell 0.9% to $ 66.5 a barrel, with a high of $67.7 and a low of $66.1.
