US stock indices opened the second session of the week higher, buoyed by the energy sector as oil prices hit March highs on news of tensions in the Middle East, as the US could reimpose economic sanctions on Iran.
Now investors await the results of the FOMC's meeting tomorrow under new Chair Jerome Powell, as analysts expect policymakers to hike interest rates to between 1.50% and 1.75%, while unveiling their three-year forecasts for growth, inflation, unemployment, and interest rates.
As of 02:57 GMT, Standard and Poor's 500 rose 0.23%, or 6.14 points to 2,719.06, while Dow Jones added 0.61%, or 149.69 points to 24,760.60.
Tech-heavy NASDAQ climbed 0.30%, or 21.83 points to 7,366.08.
