U.S. crude stocks fall less than expected last week

The Energy Information Administration released its report on U.S. crude stocks, showing a deficit of 1.8 million barrels in the week ending May 12, adding to the 5.2M drop in the previous reading, while analysts expected a 2.5M deficit. 

 

Total inventories have now reached 520.8 million barrels, remaining within the uppermost range in the medium term in this time of the year, and near 80-year highs. 

 

Otherwise, gasoline inventories fell 0.4 million barrels, while still remaining within the uppermost range in the medium term in this time of the year, as distillate inventories, including heat fuel, fell 1.9 million barrels.
