Canada's consumer prices improve in January

Canada's consumer prices rose 0.9% in January, besting expectations of a 0.3% rise, and compared to December's 0.2% fall, while on a yearly basis, prices rose 2.1%, above expectations of 1.6%, and surging from December's 1.5%.
 
Core prices rose 0.5% last month, blowing past expectations of a 0.1% fall, and compared to December's 0.3% fall.
