The Australian dollar dropped against its U.S. counterpart on Tuesday, as a disappointing fourth-quarter growth data from China weighed on the risk sentiment.
Official data showed that China`s gross domestic product rose 1.5%, trailing expectations of the government growth target of 7.5%.
Meanwhile, the greenback remained broadly supported against majors, as risk aversion sweeps the financial markets.
The pressure on the euro remained as well amid anticipation of the European Central Bank meeting later this week.
AUD/USD was 0.12% lower around 0.8202 at 10:08 GMT.
