Sterling settles lower versus dollar

Sterling tilted lower against the dollar away from the highest since September 25, following a basket of currencies from Britain and the US, the world's largest economy.

As of 06:59 GMT, GBP/USD dipped 0.15% to 1.3457 from the opening of 1.3479, with an intraday low at 1.3414, and a high at 1.3539.

Earlier UK data showed construction PMI jumped to 53.1 from 50.58 in October, beating expectations of 51.2, while Prime Minister Theresa May noted in earlier remarks the progress made so far in Brexit negotiations even though some points remain unsolved.

Earlier US data showed factory orders fell 0.1% in October, beating expectations of a 0.3% decline, and compared to September 1.7% rise, revised higher from 1.4%, while the US Senate passed a massive tax reform bill early Saturday,  aiming to cutting corporate taxes from 35% to 20% in order to spur growth and investments.
