Sterling tilted higher in American trade against the dollar, after UK Prime Minister Theresa May called the leaders of many European charity organizations to conduct talks next Monday about the ramifications of Brexit on their work, and following earlier data from the US, the world's largest economy.
As of 06:38 GMT, GBP/USD rose 0.18% to 1.3140 from the opening of 1.3116, with an intraday high at 1.3153, and low at 1.3085.
Earlier US data showed unemployment claims rose to 239 thousand in the week ending November 4, above the expected 232K, and compared to the previous reading's 229K, while continuing claims rose 17 thousand to 1.901 million from 1.884 million in the week ending October 21.
