Euro returns higher vs. dollar

Euro rose against the dollar on Friday to its highest since November 9, continuing the gains of this week after a short hiatus on Thursday.

Euro is on track for its best week against the dollar since May, 2016, following earlier data from the euro zone and a lack thereof from the world's largest economy.

As of 05:11 GMT, EUR/USD rose to 1.1189 from the opening of 1.1103, with an intraday low at 1.1097, and a six-month high at 1.1197.

Earlier data from Germany showed producers prices up more than expected in April, while the trade balance surplus fell below expectations for the whole euro zone in March.

Markets now await Saint Louis Fed president James Bollard's speech later today about the U.S. economy and monetary policy, while San Francisco Fed president John Williams will talk about policymakers' vision in El Camino school in Saint Louis.
