Euro edged up against the dollar in American trade following earlier data from Germany; the euro zone's largest economy, and ahead of Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari's speech later today.
EUR/USD rose 0.17% to 1.1793 from the opening of 1.1771, with an intraday high at 1.1814, and a low at 1.1766.
Earlier German data showed the seasonally-adjusted industrial production reading with a 1.1% tumble in June, compared to a 1.2% rise in May, missing expectations of a 0.2% advance, while on a yearly basis, production slowed down to 2.4% from 4.8%, also missing expectations of 3.7%.
Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari is scheduled to speak at the Rotary Club of Downtown Sioux Falls, in South Dakota later today, as markets price in a third Fed rate hike later this year following the stellar payrolls report on Friday.
