Aussie rises as markets await US inflation data

Australian dollar kept rising for the third straight session to a one-week high against dollar despite disappointing business confidence data from Australia.

The NAB Business Confidence index dipped to 9 from 11 in January, revised from 12.

Aussie managed to hold ground as markets await crucial US consumer prices data later today, expected to have slowed down to 0.2% from 0.5%.

AUD/USD rose to 0.7864 from the opening of 0.7862, with a session-high at 0.7870, and a low at 0.7855.

Aussie drew support last week from US announcement that Australia will be included in the exemptions from steel and aluminum tariffs alongside Mexico and Canada.

The US dollar on the other hand remains under pressure since the payrolls report showed a slowdown in average earnings growth, hurting inflation prospects.
