Silver prices fell on Thursday after surging yesterday to a three-week high, with the white metal's decline today a result of dollar's strength against main currencies.
Silver last traded at $17.02 an ounce, down from the opening price of $17.13, with a session-high at $17.21, and a low at $16.93.
Silver's drop comes after the dollar jumped to three-session highs versus main currencies, heaping pressure on silver prices according to their inverse relation.
On the other hand, traders sold off their silver positions today to take profits after they set three-week highs.
The dollar index, gauging the greenback against an array of six major rivals, rose to 101.15 from the opening of 100.18, with an intraday high at 101.25, and a low at 99.46.
