Silver prices wavered on Friday after hitting a four-week high yesterday, as the dollar dithers today against a basket of currencies, while gold prices stopped rising.
Silver last traded at $16.75 an ounce, compared to the opening price of $16.76, with an intraday high at $16.82, and a low at $16.56.
Silver's wavering today comes as the dollar wavers as well against main currencies after trying to rise on the back of strong U.S. data and pare the weekly losses.
As for gold prices, they stopped rising after facing the psychological barrier of $1,200, which forced it to trade below that level, in turn stemming silver's advance.
The dollar index, gauging the greenback against a basket of six main rivals, fell to 101.19 from the opening of 101.43, with an intraday high at 101.67, and a low at 101.95, after the hitting a five-week low yesterday at 100.70.
