Gold prices wavered on Friday before the weekend as markets await Donald Trump's inauguration today, while markets move sideways, with the dollar dithering as well.
Gold last traded at $1,203.8 an ounce, compared to the opening price of $1,203.4, with an intraday high at $1,208,9, and a low at $1,198.5.
Gold was wavering all the week after hitting a two-month high before returning lower and losing the gains, while moving sideways, as markets await Trump's inauguration.
The dollar wavered as well amid a lack of U.S. data, while the dollar index heads for the fourth weekly fall in a row, amid mixed expectations about the new U.S. policies, specially after Trump said the dollar is overpriced.
On the other hand, gold drew support from profit-taking in stocks amid instability regarding the U.S. new administration of Trump, with investors seek safe havens currently like gold.
